Located in the Al Serkal precinct, this unique spinning studio embraces a youthful vibe, with innovative lighting and audio technologies creating a trendy yet casual cafe ambience. Designed by Broadway Interiors with contracting work by Horton Interiors, the Crank Studio provides a high-energy environment through its sensory design. It optimises the limitations presented by the industrial site.

The industrial elements of the building, such as the concrete floors, brick walls, exposed ceilings and steel finishes, were used as the raw canvas. The rustic theme recurs in other details, such as recycling pipes for tissue holders and mesh screens as dividers. A mezzanine floor was created by double stacking to maximize the functionality of the space with a street-style graffiti design theme. Due to limited natural light, a neutral colour palette was adopted with touches of timber to soften yet add character.

To prevent the sound from spilling outside, the designers also worked on acoustics using carpet tiles. The toilets and shower rooms were created in a simplistic, industrial aesthetic with concrete brick walls, pendant lighting, wall art, and laminated partitions.
Additional space was turned into a secondary studio for stretching and yoga activities and features quirky, recycled elements, such as bikes on the wall and drums as a base for the reception counter, adding character and functionality to the overall design. The crank also features a cafe, concealed storage rooms, and a lounging area with an edgy design pervading throughout.
