We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team in the construction and interior design industry. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of both accounting principles and industry-specific practices, such as project costing, inventory management, and contract accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Project Costing: Oversee project accounting, including tracking and monitoring project budgets, costs, and profitability. Ensure timely and accurate job costing reports.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage vendor payments, client billing, and collections while ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts.
- Inventory & Asset Management: Monitor and manage inventory, equipment, and other project-related assets in compliance with financial controls.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations and assist with the preparation of tax returns.
- Contract Accounting: Manage accounting processes related to long-term contracts, including revenue recognition, billing milestones, and retention payments.
- Payroll: Assist with payroll processing and maintain records of employee expenses.
- Audit & Internal Controls: Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Software: Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or industry-specific platforms) for financial reporting and project management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or interior design industry.
- Experience with project-based accounting and cost accounting.
Skills:
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or other ERP systems).
- Very good hands in Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards, tax laws, and regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) is a plus.
